How do small business make money on shipping?

Question by Jmo: How do small business make money on shipping?
Hi, I’m working on a small business plan for an online shop. I hear that shipping is where profits can be made. I haven’t researched the shipping portion yet of my business idea.

1. How do you sign up for discount shipping programs with shippers? Can small business benefit from shipping programs?
2. How do you set up the shipping cost structure so that the business owner is able to make money off of the shipping component of the business?
2. How is that possible?

Just charge more for shipping to the customer than it actually costs you. You can use it as a buffer income because you will always have something that you needed that wasnt in the budget.

What would you think about a business plan that shows people how to reduce their tax burden?

Question by Zero1: What would you think about a business plan that shows people how to reduce their tax burden?
This business plan, and the business that ensues from this, shows people how to progressively and perpetually reduce their tax burden across the board. This goes far beyond merely income taxes. We’re talking about all forms of taxation at all levels of government.

In effect, this business legally allows people to increase their take home earnings by over 44% on average giving themselves a huge payraise.

If you had the opportunity to invest in this business and reap the dividends (far beyond your expectations) what would you do?
If you’re serious: I can show you details about this business plan.
Just because others have failed to produce what I have in my posession means hardly anything. People are always inventing new products and ideas. This is very detailed and only for serious individuals.
Again, this business plan applies to ALL FORMS OF TAXATION not just the income tax. And there is nothing the IRS can do about it legally. This is anything but tax evasion. It’s legal.

Q&A: How do I write a business plan for a pet hotel?

Question by wooohoo12: How do I write a business plan for a pet hotel?
I would like to start a business and am in need of some ideas for writing my business plan, then I will be looking for investors? I seen a business in Chesterfield, MO and it was called Petropolis. It was a “hotel” for small animals, cats and dogs mostly. I would like to open something similar to this. Also, what are some good ways of finding out if this would go over well in the area I am looking into? Can you send out a survey to the area asking specific questions? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hmmm, I think you are asking people to do all the hard work for you!

To start with the survey – yes, of course, you can send one out. But quite frankly (sorry, being brutally honest to be kind) if you can’t decide on the questions you want to ask, I can’t see you being able to run your own business.

If you seriously want to run your own business, there are lots of sites on the web that will help you write your BP. Try http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/layer?topicId=1073869162&tc=000KW012266680 for starters. THere is likely to be a small business advice service in your local area.

Hope this helps!

I recently started a small business. Are there any grants available for small business for start-up costs?

Question by : I recently started a small business. Are there any grants available for small business for start-up costs?
I am interested in learning about legitimate grants for small businesses (or women owned businesses) to help with start-up costs for equipment (computers, fax machine, printer, etc.) and advertising. I have a business plan, Tax ID Number and all of the basics completed, however, I need help with additional funding without having to take out a loan until I gain clients. Any information is appreciated.

Purchase a “Business Communications” textbook at the second-hand bookstore in your town. They will most definitely have reports and business plans which you can use as a guide.

Does my small business need to file a tax return?

Question by greg b: Does my small business need to file a tax return?
I am a small business owner and have been developing my company for the past year. Because I left my previous job to start this business I do not have a current income and because my company only recently officially “opened for business” we do not have a profit line. Do I need to file? What about the business expenses that I incur?

Best answer:

Answer by loandude
You would probably want to list your new business on a Schedule C. If recieved no money in the course of the business last year, that is OK. You would still want to write off any expenses you had in starting the business. You say you were not open for business until this year. You could still write off startup expenses that you incurred in tax year 2006. This would lower your tax burden on other income.

Business Plan – How to create financial projections for Social Networking Website?

Question by Packers4: Business Plan – How to create financial projections for Social Networking Website?
Hello,

I am currently writing up a business plan for a niche social networking website.

I know how to create a financial model for a business selling ‘goods’ but I am stumped on how to determine the money coming in for a social networking website based on Ad Revenue from Google Adsense or permanent spots advertisers buy.

Any idea how to create these? Money will predominantly come from ad revenue and t-shirt sales.

Whats the rule of thumb of advertising revenue?

Thanks.

Question by millylouise: How do you write a business plan for a startup?
I wrote a business plan but I’m somewhat unsure whether it confirms to the accepted standards to go in front of a VC or a SBA-approved bank. Could you please show me how to write a business plan through a website, or give me some pointers from personal experience? Thank you in advance.
